Marié Digby interview on Singapore’s Men’s Health Magazine where she talked marie1about her new hobby which is, kickboxing, and talked about her ideal man. :)

With her porcelain complexion and pan-Asian features, it’s easy to attribute Marié’s success to her looks. She herself reckons that it could possibly be part of her appeal. When asked if screaming male hordes was a regular occurrence at her gigs, based on her last visit at Velvet Underground in 2008, she replied, “My fans are very enthusiastic and I love that about them. It’s funny because I always believe that with the music that I write, I would have much more of a female fanbase but it seems I have quite a male fanbase. I’d like to think it’s because they like my songs but who knows? Whatever the reason is, I’ll take it and I’m grateful for it.”

How do you relax?
I love exercising. I love anything that makes my heart pound. While it doesn’t sound relaxing but I love kick-boxing. I feel that keeps me centred and focused. I train with a former US MMA fighter.

Honestly, it’s quite hard to picture you as a kickboxer.
I know! Unless someone took a video of me, I don’t think I’d realise that’s what I do for fun either. But I do love it.

Are you still as sweet while punching and kicking?
I think a completely different side of me comes out, I can safely say that. Somewhere inside of me must be a fighter.

Or somebody violent?
I don’t know about violent (laughs) but I certainly don’t have a problem throwing a punch or a kick, that’s for sure.

We recall you wrote a song for this guy that you liked, has that progressed since the last time?
Voice on the Radio – no. That was such a special moment that I will never forget that night. That  was such a turning point when I was standing there in front of the crowd and thinking, I’m not going to even say “Hi” to this person until I’ve done something significant in my life. No, I haven’t seen that person again so it hasn’t progressed any further. Sometimes I sing that song again and think it might apply to someone else now.

So as a singer-songwriter, would a guy serenading you be impressive in any way?
I say don’t do it unless you’re really good, otherwise that’ll ruin your chances with me. That sounds harsh but though I would give them points for the effort, you should be pretty confident that you’re good.

What sort of men do you look for?
The most attractive quality is someone who’s a go-getter, someone with a passion and not afraid to do it. That’s number one for me. I’m not really into floaters too much. And I like men who are confident but humble at the same time, and that’s a balance that’s hard to find.

So who’s your dream guy?
I like Lee Pace, the lead actor from Pushing Daisies. I think he’s adorable.

This one has been on our radar for a long time. ‘Unfold’ is such a powerful personal song with so much emotion it is a tough one to cover. This just makes Pamela Choo‘s cover of ‘Unfold’ that much more impressive. It is almost as captivating as Marié’s original rendition, she even wears a headband just like Marié did. Enjoy! Be sure to check out Pamela’s other videos as well, she is very talented!
