Nicole’s Digbyholic Diary: It’s MAH-REE-YAY!

Hello everyone!
Oh my, has it ever been a while since I wrote a diary entry! So how many of you missed me? Haha. I’m kidding. I missed this! I missed all of you! School’s been hectic, but I finally have a month off!
Okay, so I’m sure we’ve all corrected one or more people when they mispronounce Marie’s name at least once, yes? Well my next diary entry is in fact about an example of this that happened to me not too long ago.
This year for my first summer class I took a science course which required that I take a lab along with it. The first day rolls along and we’re informed that we need partners to perform each experiment. It was all cool because I had quite a few friends in the class to start with anyways. (All these friends that I sat with all know that I’m a huge Marie Digby fan as I’ve mentioned her a countless number of times and I’ve lent them my MD CDs).
So I didn’t worry much because I could pair up with anyone of them as long as we all end up at the same lab bench. Class ended and the lab was about to begin in an hour.
See, what we didn’t realize at the time was the major difference between classroom size to laboratory size ratio. Wow was this lab ever tiny and we’re supposed to fit almost 100 people here?! Fifteen minutes before the first lab everyone was anxiously waiting for the lab doors to open in order to get good bench spots with people they want to sit with. It was time! The doors opened and kaaaabam! Everyone try their hardest to squeeze themselves through the crowded doors. If you saw this mob, you’d think there was a fire of some sort or that they had two tickets to Marie Digby’s concert at stake inside the room! Oh the things Digbyholics do.
Anyways, my one friend and I got in just 2 milliseconds too late. All the stations are occupied by at least one person, leaving us with no choice but to be separated and sit with someone else. ;( We sat across from each other with random partners. Ah, the joy of meeting new people. My friend and I just kind of sat there making faces of disappointment at each other. Eventually I turned around and spoke to my new partner.
Nicole: Hi, I’m Nicole.
Partner: Hi, I’m Maria. Nice to meet you.
Nicole: Oh cool. Nice to meet you too!
(Talked some more and performed the experiment together) The next morning…one of my friends asked me how I liked my partner and what her name was.
Nicole: Oh she’s alright I guess. Her name’s Maria.
Friend 1: Maria? Like Maria… Digby?
Nicole: No! And it’s MAH-REE-YAY Digby not Maria, you goof! Haha.
Friend 1: Woops haha. My bad!
Another friend of mine came in and sat beside me and asked me the same things about my partner.
Nicole: Yeah, she goes by Maria.
Friend 2: Isn’t that like the singer’s name? Maria Digby, right?
Nicole: Oh mann. Haha! No no… not Maria… it’s MAH-REE-YAY Digby!
Friend 2: Yeah that’s what I meant to say. MAAAAH-ree-yayyyyyy!
Around noontime, my one friend who would have been my partner had lunch with me and my other two friends.
Friend 3: Nicole! How’s your partner? I don’t know if I’m actually feeling my partner. He seems to be… I don’t know… weird? What about your’s? Better than him I hope? What’s her name? I’ve never seen her around before.
Nicole: She’s not bad. Miss me as a partner? Haha because I know you do! Her name’s Maria.
Friend 3: Aw that’s cute, like Maria Digby!! Hehe. By the way, I have her CDs at home still. I’ll give them back to you tomorrow instead okay?
Friends 1, 2: MAAH-REE-YAY!
Nicole: yeaaaaa…… (-_-’)
We all know how Marie becomes a part of our lives and how MDD has the tendency to spread. Whether if we’re young or old, or whether we’re pronounce her name wrong Haha.
Always a great way to start off a new semester/summer classes… Digby-ful
I apologize for the long delay guys! I got a month off now, so you can expect more stories to come.
Hope all of you are doin’ good!
True Story!
Signing off *Nicole*
