As the special touring correspondent Marié will be keeping a blog of her adventures on the tour. Here are her entries for the first 3 stops in Portland, Seattle and San Francisco!

Day 1 of Lilith Fair – Portland, Oregon !

So today was my very first day joining the Lilith Fair!
We pulled up to the venue pretty early in the morning. There were rows and rows of buses, all filled with sleeping musicians and crew members.
I saw A Fine Frenzy come out of her bus and play catch with her band mates.. it was quite neat with the backdrop of the all the fields and tall trees here in Oregon.
I have to admit, I was a bit nervous about today.. it being my first day on tour and knowing that I’ll be doing double duty for all of it! (I’ll be performing and interviewing!)
I did a 30 minute performance on the B stage and couldn’t believe that everyone stuck around despite the rain which went from a little shower to a near downpour.
Not only did they stick around, I didn’t even see a single umbrella in sight, everyone had their heavy duty rain jackets ready to go.
I’m such a typical L.A girl, I don’t even own a rain jacket !
Later on in the day, I caught all of Colbie Caillat’s set. Two of my good friends are playing in her band and they sounded killer.
Colbie’s got such a soothing voice and her laid back beachy songs remind me of home.
I ended my first day on Lilith with an interview with an upcoming artist named Lucy Schwartz and another acoustic performance in the ABC tent.
It’s only 9:45pm and I’m already exhausted and ready for bed. Tomorrow : It’s Seattle !! and figure out bus situation day :)

Goodnight,

Marié

Day 2 Lilith Fair – The Gorge, Washington

Day 2 of Lilith Fair – The Gorge in Washington Hands down, this is the most beautiful venue I’ve ever been to in my life. I tried taking videos and pictures but I don’t think anything will do justice for how breathtaking the scenery is. The main stage is literally set on the edge of a cliff overlooking a huge damn and mountains in the distance. I’m still getting the hang of everything on this tour – The most important mission of the day is always to find catering first .. That’s where I usually end up spending most of my day. The food on this tour is insane!! It’s going to be hard not to stuff myself on a daily basis when there’s full catering all day long. I played the B stage again today as well as the ABC music lounge. The special guest in the lounge today was Grace Potter and the Nocturnals (my label mate on Hollywood Records !). I’m sure the interview with her will be up in a day or so! She rocked some killer 4 inch heels all day long, walking huge hills from stage to stage at this venue, very impressive. The highlight by far was watching Sheryl Crow from the side of the stage. Sheryl’s been one of my biggest musical idols and to be on the same touring festival with her is truly surreal. She gets hotter with age, what is her secret ?!! I love that you can bump elbows with such huge musicians on a festival like this. Sarah Mclachlan too is so warm and kind.. it’s very humbling to be around such talent. It makes me inspired to write songs of the same caliber that people want to get married to, to fall in love to, to cry to.. Anyway, the night is not yet over, I’m going to check out Sarah’s set !! She usually does a finale song with all of the artists but I think I’m too shy to go up. We’ll see what happens ;) Goodnight, Marié

Day 3 Lilith Fair – San Francisco !

Day 3 of Lilith Fair in San Francisco was another beautiful day… I think everyone on the crew felt refreshed and clean after a day off for 4th of July! The layout for this venue was like a giant horseshoe with the Village stage on one end, the ABC stage on the other and the main stage in the middle. Since I had missed The Submarines in Washington, I was determined to watch them today (their last day on Lilith). They opened up the day on the ABC stage and played some of my favorites including You, Me and the Bourgeoisie – made famous by the Apple commercial ! I played the ABC music lounge tent, which is quickly starting to feel like home base for me on the Lilith Fair. I absolutely love the people who attend Lilith. They are so open to finding out about new artists and are really genuine music fans. I’ve had such an amazing experience meeting people after my performances.. every age, nationality, gender.. Everyone is welcome here. Unfortunately, I missed some of the main stage newcomers like Heart and The Bangles because I wasn’t feeling very well :( But from what I hear, they absolutely rocked the house.. Also new to the lineup was Miranda Lambert. I hope some of the newer artists will play a few more dates so I can check out their sets. Next up is San Diego.. I’m sure it’ll a be a hot one !! For now, goodnight ;) Marié
