Hey Digbyholics!  As some of you may know, Marié was a special guest performer and judge at this year’s Kollaboration Acoustic 4 and of course, Digbyholics were there to show some support and have some fun!  I am sorry that we haven’t posted any pictures or videos of the event in one whole post yet because we’re waiting on the Kollaboration staff to get all the photos organized, but as we patiently wait for those, I want to introduce to a new friend of ours, Julianne, who was kind enough to give a quick overview of her experience at Kollaboration.  Enjoy!  :)

Kollaboration Acoustic 4 Review by Julianne…Digbyholic at Large

Kollaboration Acoustic 4 was amazing on Friday night! There were so many performers; they all did an amazing job! The performers either did original songs, covers or mash-ups. Our seats were right behind Marié Digby and her family! I knew it would be hard for the judges to pick just one winner, but I think they made the right choice. The winner was Dawen, who wrote an original song called “Shoes”.

Before the show my dad and I got to meet Marié Digby. When we walked up to her she remembered my name. We had a present for her for her Breathing Underwater movie episodes. The award was an Oscar statue that said 2010- Best Actress- Marié Digby- Breathing Underwater. She was so excited and said, “This will probably be the only award I will ever get. It is so precious.” And then she gave a mini speech, “I would like to say thank you to all the little people.” She was happy to know how much we enjoyed her movie and her music.

After all of the Kollaboration contestants performed, Marié performed. She played “Breathing Underwater”, “Stupid for You”, a cover of Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams”, and “Say It Again”. She played “Stupid for You” on the guitar instead of the piano like she always does. The beginning of the song sounded different, but then changed to what it originally sounds like.

Kollaboration Acoustic 4 was fun and exciting night listening to new musicians and getting to see Marié Digby again. Can’t wait for the next show!

Who Knew Lecture Notes Meant Marie Digby?

Yo guys!

I actually really should be studying right now, but sitting in this very spot a memory that happened not too long ago just popped up in my head. Yeah I like to be a rebel (sometimes). This is actually where I, actually we… watched the last episode of Marie’s Breathing Underwater series.  This was with the ‘we’ part meaning my one friend who had no idea who Marie Digby was at the time and I.

Just like all of you guys I was really anticipating the ending to the series when I heard it was out and I could not keep my head on straight while sitting in class reading recent Tweets.  (You know that feeling when you know that summer’s just 3 minutes or so away and the second hand on the clock seems to be taking an eternity to go around just once? Yeaaa… That feeling…) So right after class, I ran to the library dragging my friend with me.  (Okay, not really draggin :p She kinda just followed me confused about why I was headed to the library rather than our usual lunch spot.)

We finally got to the library and I whipped out the laptop and earphones.  My friend took out her lunch and ate beside me while I watched Episode Numbahh 17 (that’s what I’m talkin’ bout…).  About 3 quarters into the episode, I heard my friend murmur something ever so quietly.

Nicole: *pauses video, takes out earphones* What?

Friend: Whoa man… where does she get all the hot guys? She needs to hook it up! Who is that anyways?

Nicole: Haha. Yeah, they’re pretty cute aren’t they? That’s Marie Digby. You haven’t heard of her?

Friend: Neverrrr… Why? Mah-ree-ey? Uhh.. how do you even spell that? Haha.

Nicole: M-A-R-I-E.  Serious? Oh em gee. You should check her out. Youtube would probably be the best place!

Friend: What does she do on Youtube?

Nicole:  She writes songs and sings. I actually have some of her songs on my iTunes. Here, listen.

Friend: Haha. No thanks. Acoustic?

Nicole: Aw okay… Yea.

Friend: Sorry… not my type of music.

Nicole: Oh alright… I tried. But yeah, I’m gonna go grab some Starbucks. You want anything?

Friend: No thanks. I’m good… Sorry man.

Nicole: Haha It’s alright.

I come back about 15 minutes later and I walk up to her from behind.  She had some earphones on so she had no idea I was behind her.  Sure enough she was watching Marie’s “How I Write a Song” video on Youtube.  I took my drink and placed it beside her and her eyes widen.

*Close*, *Close*,*Close*  Not only did she have Marie’s Video opened, but also had Marie’s Wikipedia page opened and Marie Digby Google images opened aside from that. Talk about busted!

Nicole: hi. I’m back? Just in case you didn’t notice. Haha.

Friend: uhhh yea… so how’s your Starbucks tasting? Hah….

Nicole: Buddy… I haven’t taken a sip yet, it’s right beside you…

Friend: oh… right…

Nicole: So you got a decent amount of studying done I see? Haha.

Friend: Be quiet. Haha.

Nicole: Make me.

Friend: K fine… you win. Marie Digby’s stuff pretty good.

Nicole: Hah! Ya…That’s I thought!

Friend: Yeah yeah…. So where are the rest of all these episodes?! Show me.

Nicole: Oh uhm….. here… There’s 17 of them all togeth…

Friend: (butts in and passes me a $10 bill) K thanks! Now can you please get me a latte? I just didn’t come the first time you went to Starbucks because I was ‘studying’ … yenno how it is. Haha.

Nicole: Wha? But Starbucks is just right….there… uggh fine.

Friend: Teehee.

We all know how Marie becomes a part of our lives and how MDD has the tendency to spread. Whether if we’re young or old, or whether we’re latte lovers or not.

This post is a little late, but just in case you haven’t seen it yet, here is another original song from the lovely Ms. Digby.  :)  Marié’s best friend asked her to play for her wedding, and decided to write a song especially for her wedding day.  So here it is!  Marié hopes that it makes you feel like falling in love, and I don’t know about you, but it sure does make me feel like falling in love.  haha!  ENJOY!  :)
