About the Digbyholics
In 2008, Ayes and Jeff from the Philippines joined forces to create http://mariedigbyfan.multiply.com which was one of the very first Marié fansites. A community of fans began to grow, and by the beginning of 2009 had expanded globally. Eventually, the group out-grew Multiply’s limited features. Spearheaded by Vince, plans were underway for a re-location to bigger pastures.
On April 16th of 2009, Marié’s birthday, Digbyholics.com officially launched with a Birthday Dedication video and the creation of a dedicated Youtube Account. Marié was instrumental in promoting the launch by participating in a fan-chat and mentioning the new site on her Youtube vlogs as well as various TV and Radio shows.
The global nature of the community was fully realized in the summer and fall of 2009 when Marié embarked on her tour through Singapore, the Philippines, Japan, and the US. Digbyholics from all around the world got to see Marié perform live, and return to the site to share their experiences. While in the Philippines, Marié sat down for a special lunch with some of her biggest supporters; Ayes, Jeff, Jaymie, and Roxy.
October and December of 2009 brought more exciting adventures. Vince, Ken, Ulysses, Jaymie, and Keshia, the core of the US community, saw Marié perform while on her Breathing Underwater tour. They attended performances in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego. In between the concerts, there were meet-ups at Disneyland and interviews with Marié.
The Philippines chapter of the Digbyholics held a big Christmas party including a stage for everyone to perform their own Marié Digby covers.
In celebration of the site’s one-year anniversary, 2010 kicked off with a giveaway contest for an autographed copy of Breathing Underwater. As the year went on, the Digbyholics kept up the momentum by supporting Marié at the CalDoSomething concert in Berkeley and the Kollaboration Acoustic 4 concert in Los Angeles. Finally, the year was capped with a concert and meet-up at Hotel Cafe in December.
The beginning of 2011 started with a bang when Marié held a concert at Max’s of Manila. The core US group was re-united and sat down with Ms. Digby for another interview.
Weeks later, Marié departed for an extended trip to the Philippines and Japan. She quickly arranged two performances; one on the Music Update Live show and another at a Jam For Japan benefit concert. After nearly two years time, the Digbyholics in the Philippines were able to see Marié perform again.
The 2-year anniversary of Digbyholics.com brought about a refreshed and revamped overhaul to the website. Referred to in secret as “DH 2.0,” changes included a regularly scheduled blog by various contributors, an improved chat & comments format, and a mailing list for important news and concert dates.
Looking forward, the Digbyholics continue on with their original mission to promote and support Marié, while providing a welcome environment for fans from all over the world to meet one another and share their experiences.
THE STAFF
Over the years, the Digbyholic ranks have grown too numerous to name everyone. There are many wonderful and outstanding fans who send in their photos, videos, and experiences. Countless are the fans-turned-friends who join us at concerts and meet-ups. Many thanks, much love, and tons of gratitude goes out to each and every one of them. Below, you can meet the crew who keep the Digbyholic Machine running on a day-to-day basis.
Name: Ayes
Location: Manila, Philippines
Both leader and mascot rolled into one, Ayes’ tiny footprint can be found on almost every Digbyholic operation. She and Marié communicated for a long time over the internet until in 2009 they were finally able to hang out in person.
As a co-founder of the original Multiply fansite, her responsibilities run the gamut. You can find her organizing meet-ups, chatting with Marié herself, posting the Digbyholic Spotlight feature, and updating all the social networking services. You name it, this girl’s doing it.
Name: Jeff
Location: Manila, Philippines
Jeff’s passion for music carries over into his enthusiasm for the Digyholics. In the past, he has performed several covers with other fans on Marié Digby covers. If there’s a Digby-related event in the Philippines, you can bet Jeff will be in attendance.
Since the Multiply days, Jeff has continued to work on the content-side of operations. You’ll find him answering e-mails, rendering videos, and organizing meet-ups. He has also been the project leader on many collaborative video projects like Digbyholics Flipside.
Name: Jaymie
Location: California
Jaymie holds the title of being the only Digbyholic to have met the entire staff between the States and the Philippines. As a long-time fan, she has been influential in every step. Jaymie’s dedication and sincerity are defining characteristics of the Digbyholic family.
Unofficially known as the Artistic Coordinator, her skills are put to use whenever there’s an animation or drawing needed. Jaymie also does voiceovers and camera-spots for various projects videos. Both she and Ken organize the California meet-ups. There’s a good chance she’s the one operating the Digbyholic social networking accounts. Every week, you can also find her posting the Digbyholics Got Talent feature.
Name: Vince
Location: Seattle, Washington
Vince was one of the first to recognize the need for a dedicated domain site for Digbyholics. Almost singlehandedly, he did all the groundwork to get the website up and running. While ideas and suggestions get put forth by everyone, it all runs through Vince once it’s time to get it online. He is, in many ways, the stable Rock of the group.
The brunt of any website updates are on Vince’s shoulders. If the site ever goes down, Vince’s phone is the first to get spam-texted for repairs. A majority of the site content gets posted up by him as well. Vince has also been one of the few Digbyholics to interview Marié.
Name: Ken
Location: California
Ken quickly showed up on the Digbyholic’s radar for his Marié-related content on Youtube and joined the fold just prior to the launch of the site. His initiative and persuasiveness helps keep the ball rolling on new and ongoing projects. Ken keeps a low-profile online, but he’s heavily involved behind-the-scenes.
Unofficially known as the Social Coordinator, Ken is one of the first Digbyholics you’ll meet at concerts and meet-ups. Most of the US-based Youtube videos are edited by Ken, as well as some vidcapping of Marié’s TV and Radio appearances. He has also done an interview with her. Every week, Ken posts the Music Mariéducation feature.
Name: Ulysses
Location: California
It’s just not a Cali meet-up if Ulysses isn’t on the roll call. Out of everybody, he’s always been the best at breaking down what makes Marié and her music so special. He’s the voice of reason, and a guaranteed source of Real Talk.
As one of Marié’s first supporters, Ulysses has been fortunate enough to see the most Marié concerts out of everyone. He and Marie have known eachother for awhile, and he’s even done an interview with Marié and her friends in San Diego.
Name: Keshia
Location: California
A relative newcomer, Keshia quickly won over the hearts and minds of the Digbyholics with her giggles and her devotion. You’ll find Keshia trying to sneak into Marié’s 21+ shows, boyfriend in tow. Sorry boys, this Digbyholic is taken!
Another artistic consultant, Keshia has contributed on past gift projects. In 2011, both she and Jaymie interviewed Marié right before she left for her Japan/Philippines trip.
