Hi Digbyholics,

I have a long story to share..

Sometime in 28/7/2009, Marié came to Singapore for a 1-night-only showcase at a club call “The Arena” … Being a totally-un-exciting person, I hardly ever club but I knew I HAD TO GO catch her.. because honestly, who knows when she may make it to Small Little Singapore again.. I only discovered her when I saw an advertisement on TV advertising her first album.. in that advertisement, they mentioned she has a YouTube channel which led me to YouTube (this was the time before I’m *cough* addicted to youtubing..) and watched probably 90% of her videos in one night. From then on I was a fan!

with me

So came 2009, I successfully persuaded a friend to go with me to her showcase! Of course I had to get her autograph at the end of the night & I still remember the people-in-charge telling a fan in line that Marié was ONLY going to sign “Breathing Underwater” and not “Unfold” but there was a little girl who had the “Unfold” album and the crew-in-question said that well she’s 7 (ok I can’t remember her exact age) so she’s entitled to get ALL her albums signed. Oh well, they don’t know Marié… because I saw her signing every album that was handled to her by anyone.. teehee Of course I got a photo taken with her too and one taken by the event organizer’s photographer which I was so shocked when I saw it on Facebook!

Though it has been more than 2 years and a lot has changed in my life, I still follow her on YouTube and I envy her courage and her determination in continuing to make heartfelt music regardless of how tough this career must be.

Gambatte Marie!

Cheers,

Jessica
